COSRX GEO

/ AI Optimization (GEO) / Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)

Overview

As AI-powered search fundamentally reshapes how consumers discover and evaluate products globally, COSRX, a global leader in K-beauty skincare, selected DISRUPT as its strategic partner to ensure its product pages were fully optimized to be cited and surfaced by AI platforms, while simultaneously maximizing on-site conversion performance.

DISRUPT deployed an integrated approach across 10 key product pages, combining Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) with Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) in a single coordinated engagement. Executed over one focused month with nine weeks of performance monitoring, the results were definitive: across 82 tracked prompts, total AI visibility increased by 1,104 percentage points, while conversion rates on the optimized pages grew 38% year-over-year, outperforming the broader site by a directional margin of 31 percentage points.

Goals

  • Increase AI search visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot
  • Increase conversion rates across 10 key skincare product pages

What we did – GEO

Phase 1

AI Visibility Audit

Before making any changes, DISRUPT conducted a thorough audit of how COSRX's product pages were being read, and cited, by AI. Key prompts relevant to COSRX's products were run across the major AI platforms: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Copilot. The team mapped exactly which pages were being surfaced, which were being ignored, and where critical information was missing or structured in ways AI models couldn't easily process. This audit became the strategic foundation for everything that followed.

Phase 2

Prompt Research & Strategy

Improving AI visibility isn't just about better content, it starts with understanding exactly how real consumers are asking AI about skincare as well as incorporating the brands positioning goals after consultation. DISRUPT conducted structured prompt research to identify the queries most relevant to COSRX's product range: questions like 'best Korean skincare for sensitive skin,' 'snail mucin essence recommendation,' and 'routine for acne-prone skin.' Each of the 10 product pages was mapped to the prompts it needed to appear in, and a page-level optimization strategy was built around those targets.

Phase 3

Content Restructuring for AI Readability

AI models favor structured, factual, and specific content over generic marketing copy. They cite pages that clearly answer questions, provide measurable data, and organize information logically. With this in mind, DISRUPT rewrote the content across all 10 product pages, including the Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. New sections were added: product comparison tables, measurable ingredient data and clinical figures, clearly structured FAQs, 'Who Is It For' sections, and step-by-step skincare routine suggestions. Each page was rebuilt to be a credible, citable source for AI responses.

Phase 4

Technical AI Optimization

Alongside content restructuring, DISRUPT executed a full technical optimization pass. Meta titles and meta descriptions were rewritten and standardized across all 10 pages to ensure consistent, AI-readable signals. Schema markup was implemented so that product information, ingredients, and review data are delivered in a structured format that AI models can parse reliably. Image alt texts were rewritten to be clear, descriptive, and keyword-relevant, ensuring that even visual content contributes to AI comprehension. Every technical element was aligned with one objective: making these pages impossible for AI to overlook.

GEO Results

Across 82 tracked prompts, COSRX's total AI visibility increased by 1,104 percentage points, an average gain of 13.5% per prompt. The best-performing product page saw a total improvement of 142.1%, with an average improvement of 91.2% across all optimized pages. On general brand-based prompt topics, average visibility increased by 7.33%. On Korean general product prompts, visibility grew by 4.0%. The overall AI readiness score reached 91.24%, confirming that COSRX's product pages are now fully equipped to compete in the AI search era.

What we did – CRO

Phase 1

Data Analysis & Opportunity Mapping

DISRUPT began by analyzing the existing conversion data across all 10 product pages. The data revealed exactly where shoppers were dropping off, which page sections were failing to build confidence, and what information gaps were causing hesitation before purchase. This wasn't a surface-level review, it was a detailed diagnosis of the purchase funnel on each page, identifying the precise moments where interest was failing to convert into action.

Phase 2

Building Trust Through Measurable Data

Modern consumers don't take claims at face value, they want proof. DISRUPT restructured the content on each product page to lead with tangible, results-driven evidence: clinically measured skin improvement data, visible skin outcome results, and test-based efficacy proof points that show consumers exactly what to expect after use. Vague marketing language was replaced with the kind of concrete, skin-result-focused content that gives shoppers the confidence they need to buy.

Phase 3

Clarifying Who the Product Is For

'Is this product right for me?' is the question every shopper is asking before they buy. To answer it clearly, DISRUPT added dedicated 'Who Is It For' sections to each product page, breaking down suitability by skin type (dry, oily, sensitive, acne-prone, combination) and specific skin concerns. This removed ambiguity and made each product feel personally relevant to a wider range of shoppers. Alongside this, skincare routine suggestions were added to show exactly how and when each product fits into a daily regimen, naturally encouraging multi-product consideration.

Phase 4

Bundle CTAs & Page Flow Redesign

Wanting to buy and actually completing a purchase are two different things. DISRUPT reduced the friction between the two by redesigning the overall page structure to follow the natural flow of a purchase decision: product introduction, ingredient credibility, personal relevance, routine placement, and finally, a clear, compelling path to purchase. Dedicated bundle CTA buttons with built-in discounts were added, making it easy and rewarding for shoppers to add multiple complementary products to their cart in a single, seamless step.

CRO Results

The 10 optimized pages consistently outperformed the rest of the COSRX website. Year-over-year, conversion rates on these pages grew by 38%, while the rest of the site grew by only 7%. This delivered a 31-percentage-point directional lift versus the site average. Compared to the previous period (excluding November), the optimized pages grew by 8% while the rest of the site declined by 3%, a directional lift of 11 percentage points. The combined average directional lift across both measurement periods was +21%. More traffic was already coming to these pages. Now, far more of it was turning into purchases.
